Nyt Liv Haus
Nyt Liv Haus seeks to provide a sense of community for Copenhagen’s rising number of homeless individuals. Targeting issues in food and shelter, Nyt Liv Haus offers homeless individuals a place to stay for one night and sustained access to food, as well as support for acute social problems of all kinds.
The ground level functions as a welcoming, transitional area with expansive floor-to-ceiling glazing that opens directly to an outdoor terrace. It offers communal dining seating and opportunities for shared activities, fostering a sense of openness and connection away from the bustling city streets. The second floor provides a semi-private retreat with a social services support office, media center, and fully equipped bathrooms, ensuring essential services and prioritizing privacy and dignity. The upper levels consist of 40 modular overnight sleeping units, designed for single and double occupancy. The standardized grid layout of the units allows flexibility for future adaptations, making it easy to reconfigure spaces based on evolving needs, whether by swapping components or integrating additional functions.
